I have ZERO memory of which belly size is what, except the last picture. That was 2 days before I went into labor. And I no longer have the bump, but a sweet boy to snuggle. There will be a blog about labor soon! I can’t wait to share his birth! However, I am beyond excited that the baby belly is gone and We’re on to the next phase! What a HARD journey that was. From bacterial bronchitis, to covid, to a failed puppy adoption/had to return said puppy from biting one of our kiddos, to a concerning lump in my breast resulting in biopsy then infection then complications. Woooof. It was tooo much. All in all I am praising the good lord for a healthy me and a healthy babe. 💙
This last year we also remodeled our master bathroom. It was stuck in ‘74 and for years now has needed some TLC….
There are still some minor details to complete- backsplash, trim, painting the trim, etc. but all in all, we’re pretty jacked about this project. And we’re getting excited and day dreaming about the next project: the kitchen.
This year was one for the books. Late August we started our homeschooling journey. Which quickly began to fail, one, because I got pregnant and fell behind, but it wasn’t a big deal. THEN, Crosby just was not thriving. He didn’t have any motivation, he was frustrated, uninterested and didn’t really have the desire to even learn. It was around Halloween time I started to consider transferring him to online/virtual learning through the school district. so we did. He began to thrive again and although it was self paced he was flying through things and really enjoying it. Until he wasn’t. Crosby is very social. And thorough enjoys the classroom environment. As most kids do I think. We discovered that learning at home was not his preferred learning style. He thrives IN SCHOOL. In February 2021 we placed him at an Elementary school just down the street. From that moment on we noticed insane leaps and bounds of learning. He was officially thriving and is still thriving.
This year he learned to:
- Write sentences
- Count to 100+ some
- Learned to count by 5 and 10’s
- Swing independently
- Addition & Subtraction up through 20
- Mastered all his Kindergarten sight words and then some
- Decided he wants to be a paleontologist.
And just for kicks and giggles- the side by sides of the first day and the last day:
And then there’s Kobe. We did so many activities and they became less structured and more playful over time. Eventually tapering off and doing things as he lead us in his learning interests. It was messy and hard but he had a great year. Next year he’ll be at an Early Learning Center with speech therapies and everything in-person. Hurray!
This year Kobe learned:
- His ABC’s and recognizing those letters on paper
- Counting to 15, sometimes 20.
- Transitioned to playing WITH friends instead of just around them.
- Draw shape people
- How to be a big helper
And… his side by side…
And last but not least… me. HA! I learned my capacity, I learned that even sometimes my personal desires to home school aren’t enough. I learned that while I might be great at teaching my kids most things, there are plenty of things better learned from someone else. And lastly, the season of life I find myself in, it just was not a good fit. Maybe another year…..
And then- the photo dump…
